Oklahoma International Dance Festival provided rigorous professional training for dancers, offered residencies for practicing dance artists and presented performances with a renowned roster of local, national and international dance-makers. It was not just another festival; it was a dynamic celebration of movement, artistry and the profound connections that dance fosters. As part of their 2024 Summer Intensive, OIDF hosted several dance workshops and performances.
The Community Dance Day free workshops covered various dance styles, including Ballet, Modern and Broadway Jazz for ages 9-16 and African Dance for all ages.
OIDF’s Choreography Showcase offered a platform for aspiring and established choreographers to showcase their works and take master classes from experts in the world of dance. The adjudicated choreography was presented in an entirely produced evening, working with a team of professionals.
Lastly, the closing performance featured works created by OIDF faculty including Robert Battle, Alba Nadal, Colin Connor, Vincent Gros and Molly Davison. The evening also featured Bruce Wood Dance from Dallas, Perpetual Motion and RACE Dance Collective.
