In the Room: Artist Talks dive into La casa’s creators works
Welcome to the house 19 artists invented. Please, make yourself at home!
Open House weekend ushered in the opening of our second floor exhibition, La casa que nos inventamos: Contemporary Art From Guadalajara, with a car show, food trucks, performances, art-making and opportunities to hear from the artists themselves, a glimpse into the exhibition’s vision.
“The temper of these works serves as a mirror in which the two cities can see themselves reflected and each receive the image of the other,” says Curator Viviana Kuri in ArtDesk’s Fall 2022 issue. “We come to the pleasing conclusion that the world is not so different far away from how it is nearby.”
Facilitated by Kuri and Curator of Public Programs and Performance Marie Casimir, Saturday’s In the Room: Artist Talks explored nearly all of the La casa artists’ artistic practices, their involvement in the Guadalajara art scene, their processes and insights into their works on view in the Eleanor Kirkpatrick Main Gallery.
Watch all three artist talks below to hear from the creators themselves. Want more? Check out our recent blogposts and explore media coverage of the exhibition. Then head to the galleries and enjoy this incredible home within our own.
