Transform your sentimental T-shirts into a custom quilt! Learn the basics of machine quilt construction. This class is beginner-friendly, but you must be familiar with your specific sewing machine and basic sewing techniques. It’s recommended, but not required, that students have previously taken either Sewing Fundamentals or Fuss-Free Quilting.
Required supplies: a notebook and pen for notes, a serviced sewing machine, electric cord, foot pedal, machine manual, all tools, feet and accessories that came with your machine, and a ¼” quilting foot. Students will purchase a kit ($58.20) of three required sewing tools on the first day of class. Students will need some additional fabric and notions beyond what is supplied in the kit. Additional supplies will be thoroughly discussed in class.
You can find the syllabus here.
If you don’t have a sewing machine, you can rent one through Studio School. Daily rentals are $12. Four-week rentals are $40 and eight-week rentals are $80.
Open Studio time is included with registration. Open Studio allows currently enrolled students to work on their projects in Oklahoma Contemporary’s studios outside of class meetings. Availability varies weekly and times are posted outside each studio.
