In this hands-on, online course, students will learn the basics of sound design in the Pro Tools digital audio workstation. Beginning with a guided tour of the software, students will learn how to start projects, navigate the interface and manage tracks and audio clips. For the rest of the course, students will use creative avenues to explore the various ways they can make music using only Pro Tools. Students will learn how to edit audio, create soundscapes and use MIDI with virtual instruments. Through exploration of different kinds of electronic music, they will discover techniques they will use to complete small creative projects outside of class. By the end of the course, students should have a strong grasp of the essential functions of the software and be ready to use Pro Tools to make music on their own. Registration closes Sunday, April 4 at 11:59 p.m.
