Kathleen Blake

Kathleen Blake is an Oklahoma art educator, formerly teaching high school art in both public and private schools, and currently teaching at the university level. Kathleen has a Master in Art Education specializing in printmaking, and in 1998 she received her National Board Certification. She has been a College Board endorsed Advanced Placement Art and Design (Studio Art) consultant for twenty-four years. For the last seven years, she has served as an AP reader, assessing the portfolio exams for AP Art and Design. A selection of her related work, honors and awards includes the following: Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence/The OK Medal for Excellence in Secondary Teaching, the Oklahoma Governors’ Arts in Education Award, The Power of Art-Robert Rauschenberg Foundation National Winner, National Board for Professional Teaching Standards/Teaching America about Accomplished Teaching/Rockefeller Grant, author - Rembrandt Comes in All Sizes-Powerful Stories from Accomplished Teachers, Corwin Press, Oklahoma Teacher of the Year Finalist, Oklahoma Art Educator of the Year, the National Art Education Association Western Region Art Educator of the Year, and the National Scholastic Art Teacher Portfolio Award. In 2017 and 2019 Kathleen received best in show in the Print on Paseo exhibit and her artworks received second place in both the Annual Goddard Juried Exhibit (2017), and the Transferring Ink exhibit (2014) in Fallbrook CA. In 2019, Kathleen received a national award when two of her artworks were featured with other national and international printmakers’ artworks in the Solar Impressions Juried Exhibit & Collaboration with International Masters held at the Southampton Art Center, Southampton, NY. Kathleen’s belief that innovative thinking, invention and risk-taking are active ingredients in the process of creating, applies to her teaching as well as her own art making. Her artworks include an integration of printmaking, drawing, collage, painting, and other mediums.
