Oklahoma Contemporary proudly partnered with Scissortail CDC and Oklahoma Latino Cultural Center to be one of the hosts of the Anita Martinez Mariachi Festival. The 2018 festival included workshops, performances and a visual arts exhibition by Oklahoma City students students in the Oklahoma Contemporary galleries.
Though many of the workshops are with targeted schools, these elements of the festival were open to the public:

Mariachi Campanas de America taught a master class, free for seasoned musicians who had an interest in the mariachi style
Student Mariachi Performances
Feb. 6, 2018 | Tuesday Tour and Corazón: Student Art Exhibit Reception
This special edition of Tuesday Tours included an introduction to mariachi and a short performance by guitarist Robert Ruiz as well as a tour of Corazón: Student Art Exhibition by curator Narciso Arguelles
Feb. 10, 2018 | Mariachi Make + Take
This family friendly art workshop allowed visitors to drop in to create colorful paper guitars and tissue-paper flower bracelets.
