Emily Anderson collects and analyzes data for the Education and Public Programs Department. She creates, implements and improves systems and processes as well as manages the Education component of the arts enterprise software Tessitura.

Highlights from Emily’s career include writing human interest stories for the English-language magazine The Reykjavik Grapevine, cataloging rare mollusks for the Harvard Museum of Natural History and producing fashion / art / music events and content focusing on environmentally sustainable and American-made products for Lizard Lounge, an apparel retailer.

Emily is a classically trained violinist and has performed with the Austin Civic Orchestra, Bristol String Orchestra, Harvard Dudley House Orchestra, MIT Gilbert & Sullivan Players and Oklahoma State University Symphony Orchestra along with other non-classical groups for more than 20 years. Emily earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Anthropology/Archaeology from the University of Texas in Austin.

Emily believes that art is one of the most important tools for human exploration, connection and understanding. She advocates for experimentation, innovation and inclusivity in the arts in Oklahoma. She is hopeful that Oklahoma City will be a new leader in supporting artists and their communities through Oklahoma Contemporary.

Emily enjoys playing music, collecting 78 rpm records and reading about lost seafaring civilizations in the arctic. She lives in downtown Oklahoma City with her pet ring-necked dove, Atticus.
