Art review: Oklahoma City exhibit of evocative photos show disappearing town in Arkansas

The Oklahoman/NewsOK • February 27, 2015

The photos are both evocative and a little bit downbeat in a show by Brazilian-born Alex Leme at Oklahoma Contemporary.

Leme took the pictures over a two-year period in Cotton Plant, a town of 650 in rural northeast Arkansas, in a project to document disappearing U.S. towns.

In a statement, Leme described the once fast-growing community as “littered with ghost factories, abandoned schools and crumbling buildings.”
